Winter is upon us but summer is not too far away! Presently we have very little snow but we do have sufficient ice for fishing and skating. The weather has be around -15 or so for the last couple of weeks but a warming trend is on the way. We see the swan regularly on the open water of the river and an occasional eagle. It is nice that the river does not freeze and the birds can stay here for the winter. Soon enough warmer temps will come, the ice will melt and the loons will return.
There is actually way too much to get caught up on but I'll share a few highlights. To be honest the Facebook page gets a lot more attention through the summer than the blog. So like us on Facebook if you do Facebook, you won't be sorry. Anyway, a few shots from the summer.
What a BEAUTIFUL day to start off Fall. The sun is out and it is suppose to be in the low 70's. Trees are changing, winds are calm and the resort season is wrapping up. What a great summer season! Thanks to everyone who visited Owl's Nest in 2014! We cherish and appreciate all of you!
The first fire of the season is always the best. Nice cool evenings a warm fire and so mores. Perfect!
Just to keep things fresh we try to annually add something to the resort experience. This year, as a result of an inquiry from one of our regular customers, we have added two paddleboards! And so far they are a hit with customers!
As always with your stay at Owl's Nest Resort, your cabin rental includes use of all the equipment at the beach. We have available: paddle boats, a sunfish sail boat, a variety of Kayak's, Bongo Water Park, swim raft, canoes, a fire pit with a plentiful supply of wood and so much more!
Imagine a warm pleasant evening with the sun setting in the west demonstrating all the colors of summer. A calm lake with a touch of a breeze. And you soaking it all in, stick in hand, with your marshmallow just getting that golden brown color........
We are ready, are you?
The rhubarb is really starting to get big. A sure sign that we getting into some warmer weather. The trees are starting to bud out, the grass is growing, the loons are calling and the gulls are everywhere. All we need is you!
Dead trees of course equals firewood and the supply is plentiful. A little stacking and the fireplace will be ready for a nice warm fire to highlight your perfect day. How can you top hot dogs on a stick?
Even the Pug needed ear protection during some dead tree removal. The grounds are shaping up and a few recently deceased trees have been removed from the resort. Raking, mowing, cutting and hauling every day we can, but we will be ready for your stay and the place will look great!
Late last week the ice finally melted and we now have open water! It has been a little too wet yet for much grounds work plus we still have a few of the deeper snow drifts left to melt off the resort. The loons have returned and have been making their presence known with that loon "trill". I have even seen a few Sea Gulls flying past. As anxious as I am to start setting docks I learned long ago to be patient and wait for firm ground to prevent having to repair tire ruts. We can't wait for warmer days to get the place in shape for your visit!
