April 16th, the snow is falling with a temperature in the low 20's Fahrenheit, so what do you do? Look back through the picture archives and find something to daydream about! Doesn't this look like a wonderful evening?
The white is receding with the color returning. With a few more warm days and some time for the ground to dry up we will begin the Spring preparations for your visit!
After dealing with a failed hard drive I'm finally back at it.
Not much new happening as we await the arrival of Spring! I think it is finally here in the northland. An almost 70 degree day yesterday sent me out with the camera. Here are some shots of the resort as it thaws from winters grip.
Your hostess Kris somewhat enjoying a blustery winter day in Duluth at Lake Superior. The first time in 30 years the Great Lakes have been this frozen over!
After a recent windy day I took this shot from inside the car. Close your eyes and think of the route from Park Rapids to the resort. As you turn off the highway onto the gravel proceed to the stop sign where you take the left turn. Remember the open field to the right? Got the spot?
The road has almost drifted shut here, there is just a single lane path through the snow. If you look just to the right of center the stop sign is barely visible above the drift. Don't worry, it will be gone by the time you get here.
On an evening walk down the resort road. The sky was an incredible blue with champagne-rose pinks at the horizon framed by the snow laden trees. unfortunately the camera can never match the colors, but this may give you a hint of what it looked like.
Found this slightly blurry shot from last year. I was fishing for Bass with a fly rod when this very optimistic Sunfish hit. What will this year bring?
I am as sick as you are of seeing screen shots of cell phone weather apps with subzero temps, so I'm not doing it. The entire state of Minnesota has had about enough of this cold. Are we turning the corner? Reports are the zonal flow is changing and the weather will soon moderate. Lows above zero? about time. So I'm bringing back some pictures to celebrate.
I like winter as much as the next person but this one is wearing us down. Coldest January in 20 years with ridiculous wind chills. School has been delayed or closed 3 times, not due to snow, but severe wind chills of -40 to -50 degrees. I was scrolling through some pictures and saw this one and thought, "that looks so good right now!" I know, but I couldn't resist....
But there is still time! Our season is looking very good this year and many weeks are full but there are a few good weeks with some availability. Give us a call!
